Reveolution in Travel in 20th Century

World travel was revolutionized in the 20th century to the extent that the world has now become a global village. What factors will influence travel this century? Will travel continue to grow or will it become less popular ?

It is a fact that in today's time travelling around the world is increasing very fast than ever before due to numerous offers of travel packages including cheep flights, budget hotels etc. Increasing tourism brings many good things for the tourist places but this popularization is also carrying many problems with it.

Around a century back, due to limited resources of travelling, people can only travel the nearby places. But with the invention of high speed trains, aeroplanes, cargo ships, million kilometer distance looks like nothing. This inspires people to travel around the world and see the different cultures, natural beauty with their own eyes. In the 20th century, due to globalisation, many companies are operating in multiple countries, which increases the work related travels for the people. This affect also brought down the travelling prices especially flight costs, so more and more people can afford travelling to different countries. Apart from that many new technologies are discovered to simplify designs, less fuel requirements and increased performance of cars, trains, which increases the short distances travels.

There are few factors which can cause set-back for this increasing tourism. One such factor is increasing number of accidents. But, many new inventions are taking place to make the vehicle more intelligent to reduce these accidents. Other factor is increasing terrorism, but this will only affect only a minimal amount of tourism as the world will not surrender itself to these kind of terrorists.

In the end, I think that, there are more factors which will help in increasing the travelling around the world than the factors to stop them. So the travel and tourism will continue to grow in future, making the world smaller and mixing the world culture.

Violence in Young due to Action in TV and Cinema

A lot of  people believe that the amount of violence shown on TV and in the cinema affects the actions of our young people and therefore increases the amount of violence in our society today.
Do you agree or disagree with this statement? What can be done to reduce violence in our society today ?

Now-a-days television and cinema are the most easily accessible source of entertainment. Most of the movies now-a-days show large amount of action. Even the animations have big amount of violence e.g. "Rango". Television programs like WWF shows dirty violence. This increasing violence in television and cinema is really affecting the young minds adversely.

It is a fact that visual things affect our mind very fast and they remain in memory for long time. The kids don't have knowledge to decide what is right or wrong. They learn and try to imitate what they see, whether from their parents or from television. They feel glamor in what they do by committing violence. When these kids grow, they tend to be more aggressive in many situations rather than being calm. Many times we have seen in news that few young bikers created nuisance on the road at midnight as they were just inspired by the movies like "Fast and Furious".

To reduce this increasing tendency of violence in young, we need to refrain kids from watching too much television and engage them other activities like arts, music and outdoor sports. Being aware of the age of the children when they start seeing these things and raise the age limit will help in preventing this. Another solution can be to control the violent behavior of a young. Rather than putting them in prison, put them in the army, where their violence can be controlled and they will learn discipline.

In the conclusion I completely agree that our society is really facing the large amount of violence specially from young people. There are few thing that can be done to control the situation but it will be very difficult I think.

Leisure Time vs Hard Studies

In some countries young people have little leisure time and are under a lot of pressure to work hard in their studies.
What do you think are the causes of this?
What solutions can you suggest?

Sometimes many young people find very little leisure time for recreation and have to do lot of hard work in their studies. There can be many reasons for this including heaving competition in schools/universities, parental pressure, maintaining social standards, financial conditions.

Every parent wants their child be successful in their life. Some of them has decided what their child will become in future for example engineer, doctor. In many countries, where the economic condition is not very good, people want their child to do what they were not able to do in their life. So they start pressuring their child to study hard to achieve the same. Even in my country, kids have to go for three to four hours of private tuitions after the regular six hours of schools. As a consequences, they have very little leisure time to go for sports and other recreational activities.

Second reason is our higher education system. In todays competitive environment, a child has to put lot of extra effort to compete with others to survive. Due to increasing population, specially in Asian countries, there are thousands of young people competing for little number of seats in good universities. This puts lot of pressure on teenagers to put long hours of studies to get even a single chance of success.

One solution of the problem is that the parents have to understand the abilities and interest of their child and support them to follow their dreams rather than imposing their own will. The schools should inform the parents about their children's' interests and ask them to give their child a stress-less environment of growth.

Other solution is to improvise the curriculum of the schools/universities to include latest technologies. So that the kids don't have to put extra efforts to learn new things to beat the competitions along with good grades. The schools should also promote sports, arts based on the interest of the kids.

In conclusion, only studies will not help in the overall growth of the individual. To compete in the society they have to be smart, energetic and free.

Finanncial Litracy at Schools

Financial education should be mandatory component of the school program. To what extent do you agree or disagree with this statement?

It is obvious that the financial aspects are most important part of our daily life, as an adult or as a young individual. We should be able to take financial decisions concerning our health, education, recreations, savings, future plans. To take correct decision, we should have proper financial education. But the question is that, we should start the financial education in school program or postpone it for later studies.

To begin with, to understand the value of money, understand the economic structure, interpret the financial aspects and to choose the best possible option among many, good financial education is must. Without this, an individual might have to suffer to some extent. For example, a young borrowing things without understanding the interest compounding on that or doing an investment without knowing the rates of returns. In addition, one of the most important decision for students is to know how to finance their education. An early grounding financial literacy, bridges this gap and sets the strong stage for later in life.

However, financial education involves the understanding of quantifying and setting prices for goods and services. This may turns them cynical and cold-hearted human beings. Furthermore, a tendency of self concentration and egoism might arise when people start thinking everything from profit making perspective.

In conclusion, financial literacy has both pros and cons. But as we know that eduction is never bad if it is utilized with good intentions and in positive direction. In my opinion, the advantages are stronger than the disadvantages in making financial education as a part of school program. The disadvantage of this can be thought of as the young people have to pay as the characteristics of the world in which we are living.

Sport Professionals Salary

Successful sports professionals can earn a great deal more money than people in other important professions.
Some people think this is fully justified while others think it is unfair.

Discuss both these views and give your own opinion.

As a result of constant media attention, the sport professionals gets the celebrity status and earn great deal of money. They live lavish life as the celebrities with all amenities and luxuries of life.

Some people find their rewards unfair, specially when comparing with the professions like scientists, professors, government bodies who have the responsibility of governing the nation. The money that these successful professionals can not be determined by the contribution to the society they made or the level of position they hold. Their main source of income is endorsements. This is because they reflect the public popularity of the sports in general and the level of public support they achieve. So the question of unfair does not arise.

The money the sport professionals achieve as a reward can be justified by the amount of their talent. All the sport persons don't earn that much money. There are very few who are talented enough to reach that stage and wins the public support. They have a great amount of pressure from media as well as from constantly increasing competition. These players are tested all the times in their every game and a single mistake can shorten their career. They also get little privacy out of their spot-lite. These argument justified the huge luxuries they avail.

In the end, i feel that the amount of money these sport starts are making is justified as they are the ones who has the responsibility of representing our nation in the world. If they win, it is the win of the nation for which they are playing.

Population Explosion

Counties such as China, India and Japan have unsustainable population growths. In fact many experts are of the opinion that the population ‘explosion’ which is now a very worrying concern, is the most serious threat to life on this planet.

Give some suggestions to address this problem.

It took the entire humankind to reach to the population of 1 billion by 1810 and only in 120 years by 1930 its doubled. The statistics says that the population will reach to 10 billinon by 2025. The current rate of population is now a burden to human well-being. Understanding the factors which affects the population growth can help future plans to restrict the giant problem of population explosion.

First i want to discuss about the causes of the rapid population growth. Until recently, birth rates and death rates were nearly same. Thanks to improved nutirtions and sanitizations, medical technology ( vaccines and antibiotics) which rescues the number of deaths specially children below age of five. Now people live longer than ever before. Also, in countries like China and India, where more than 30% of population is less educated. Because of which they are not aware of the consequences of the population growth and have many children.

The major consequence of the population growth is an affect on basic needs for survival such as food, shelter, water, education and employment. These resources are limited on earth. But with the increasing population, soon there will be crises for these basic amenities. In addition to this increase in population will increase the poverty level of the people specially in the developing contries as due to illiteracy they are growing more children than the educated ones.

To control the increasing population, we first need to use technology to derive future population projections and its consequences. Then we need to educate people with these results. Teachers need to teach students about popluation explosion and its consequences so that they can learn to handle this problems in future.

Food at Home or Restaurent

Some people prefer to eat at food stands or restaurants. Other people prefer to prepare and eat food at home. Which do you prefer? Use specific reasons and examples to support your answer.

There was a time in stone age when man has to hunt for the food. Now-a-days we have lots of food options available. Every next road has eating joints ranging from luxurious hotels and restaurents to small road-side stalls. We also have options in raw cooking materials from fresh vegitalbes, meats and fruits to pre-cooked frozen materials. It is difficult to say that I always like cook and eat at home or going to food stands. The choices depends upon many factors.

Cooking a good and healthy food requires time, efforts and also bit experties. In todays competitive time, after working for hours in offices, a person needs rest and good food. At that time we doesn't have strength to cook the food. Then we are looking for ready made food either at food stands or at any good restaurents. Also, sometimes we want to taste food of different cuisines like indian, thie, continental etc. Restaurents are also the best choice for social gatherings like birthday parties, old friends get toghather when we want to enjoy rather than wasting time in cooking.

Contrary to that, it is also the fact that nothing is better than the home cooked food. When we prepare food by ouself, we take care of everything like hygiene, spices, oil depending upon our health and taste. Many times cooking work as stress buster e.g. when you put your full concentration in cooking forget about your tensions and only think about tasty food. Also the best thing about eating at home is that you can watch your favorite programs on televsion while having your dinner. Having dinner with family increases communication, everyone can share their day with each other. Finally, it saves lot of money too.

In conclusion, I want to say that most of the time I personally like the home made food. But there are times as mentioned when we prefer to go out for lunch or dinner.

Globalisation : Pros and Cons

Even though globalisation affects the world’s economies in a positive way, its negative side should not be forgotten. Discuss.

The term "globalisation" refers to the unification of distinct political, economical and cultural trends all over the globe. Directly or indirectly, globalisation plays a very important role in our lives. But in the meantime it is a blessing or curse is a heated debate.

Globalisation has affected the world in several ways. Workers in developing countries now have more occupational choices than ever before and they are able to compete on the global job market for high paying jobs. The companies are becoming multi-national and doing offshore business all over the world, thereby making contribution to the local employment and growth. Asian countries like India and China are the best example of that, which has most offshore work in the world. Moreover, the people get to know each other, their culture through global communication (Internet chatting, cheap VOIP calls etc.).

Opposite to that, globalisation has increased the inequalities and environmental degradation. In search of cheap labour, companies are sending more business to offshore, leaving in-house vacancies open. In the current time United States is facing this problem. Also, the mind workers like engineers, scientists are able to compete successfully in world market and earn higher wages than the production and service workers. Which leads the problem of job inequality. It also adds the problem of Brain Drain as the talented minds are moving away from poor countries. According to research India is loosing around $10 billion per year due to brain drain.

In summary, I would say that in spite of obvious problems with overly rapid development, globalisation is a very positive force that lifts countries out of poverty. It causes a virtual economic cycle associated with faster economic growth.

Advertisements : Pros and Cons

Some people say that advertising encourages us to buy things that we really do not need. Others say that advertisements tell us about new products that may improve our lives.

Which viewpoint do you agree with?

Essay=>
------------

Advertisements play an important role in today's economy. They are useful to both consumers and the producers. They help the consumers by giving information about their products available in the market. With the help of advertisements the vendor can directly speak to the customer. But the advertisements have both pros and cons.

Advertisements help to increase the sale of goods, so producers sell them on reasonable prices. Consumers also get to know the offers and discounts available on products by advertisements only. In turn they increase the demand of the goods and more workers are required to fulfil the demand. So they provide employment. For advertising their products, producers pay money for transporting, printing, porters and sellers. Daily newspapers, bus fees, television licence fees remain cheap for end consumers because of advertisements only. They also keep the standard of the goods and services to maintain the stability of the product in the market.

Contrary to that, advertisements try to influence our emotions by making us buy their products which we really don't need. They make use believe that with the use of their product our dreams come true. For example many chocolates advertisements are acted by children to attract them and forcing their parents to buy for them. Also the inappropriate content shown affect the kids mind adversely. Also from cost perspective, the total production cost of a product includes the advertisements costs which increase the market cost of the product. That is why non-commercial products, such as produced for organizations has lower cost.

In conclusion, advertisements are essential to update consumers with the latest products, their features and prices. It is responsibility of the consumers to analyse their needs before making a purchase.
